- Quest Data: Items, quests, objectives, categories, tags, and images you create within the app.

- Error Reports: Auto-generated reports when the app crashes, containing technical details like error messages and device type (no personal content is included).
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
- Provide and maintain the FetchQuest service
- Sync your data across devices when you're signed in
- Enable collaborative features when you share spaces with others
- Send you service-related communications (password resets, security alerts)
- Fix Bugs: We use error reports to identify and repair technical issues.
3. Privacy-First Error Reporting
Unlike many apps that send your data to third-party tracking services (like Google Analytics), FetchQuest uses a custom, privacy-first system:
- No Third Parties: Error reports are sent directly to your own secure database instance.
- Strictly Functional: Reports only contain technical data needed to fix the bug (e.g., "Error at line 42"). They do not contain your quest names, notes, or images.
- Owner Access Only: Only the app developer has access to these technical logs for maintenance purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
FetchQuest uses Firebase (Google Cloud) for authentication and data storage. Your data is stored securely on Google's infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. We implement appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction of your data.
Local data (when not signed in) is stored in your browser's localStorage and IndexedDB, which remains on your device.
Note: FetchQuest is an independent project developed and maintained by a single developer. While security best practices are followed, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute protection against all security vulnerabilities or data breaches. Please do not store highly sensitive information in this service.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data may only be shared in these circumstances:
- Collaborative Spaces: When you share a space, other users you invite can see the content within that shared space.
- Service Providers: Firebase/Google processes your data as our infrastructure provider, subject to their privacy policies.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:
- Access: You can export all your data from the account menu.
- Rectification: You can edit or update your data at any time within the app.
- Erasure: You can delete your account and all associated data from the account menu. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
- Portability: You can export your data in JSON format.
- Objection: You can stop using the service at any time.
To exercise these rights, use the in-app features or contact us directly.
7. Cookies and Local Storage
FetchQuest uses:
- localStorage: To store your preferences and offline data.
- Session Cookies: For authentication when you're signed in.
- reCAPTCHA: To protect the service from abuse (subject to Google's privacy policy).
8. Children's Privacy
FetchQuest is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice within the app. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
